Do you want to get started creating content on YouTube? But you feel a little lost in this environment that is only sometimes as simple as other social media. And yet, with 2.5 billion active users each month, YouTube is an excellent opening to a new audience. Even internationally. So, if you still need to become committed to this platform, it’s time to dive in. But rest assured! With YouTube Studio, you have an all-in-one tool that makes your life easier. A natural control centre that allows you to manage your content, analyze your performance, and much more…
Let’s take a quick overview of all the benefits of YouTube Studio. And if you already know, a little reminder is sometimes interesting.
What is YouTube Studio?
Initially launched under YouTube Creator Studio in 2005, this platform has been redesigned for a better user experience. It became a YouTube Studio in 2019. And it has been used by all content creators on YouTube since 2020. Accessible from the web or via a mobile application, this channel management tool is free!
The only requirement is to have a YouTube channel, of course.
- To access YouTube Studio, simply:
- Log in to your YouTube account.
- Click on your avatar at the top right of the screen.
- Then, select YouTube Studio from the drop-down menu.
On the YouTube application, the process is the same. Except that, you must download the YouTube Studio application first.
Here you are in YouTube Studio with its dashboard, videos, playlists, comments and analytical measures.
Manage your content with YouTube Studio
With YouTube Studio, you make your life easier. Whether you’re about to post a new video or want to change the ones you’ve already uploaded, it’s all straightforward. You have the necessary tools to act effectively.
Despite the absence of an accurate editing tool, you can still make cuts, add a final screen and files or even merge images.
You can schedule your posts on your desired date and time.
But you can also modify your videos’ titles, descriptions and thumbnails or add subtitles. This last feature is handy and welcome if you have an audience abroad.
And to find out, data analysis is an almost inexhaustible mine of information…
Analyze your channel data
You can access the same information on the application or the web—only the interface changes.
And the valuable data you can find there is impressive.
Channel and content performance
YouTube Studio provides detailed statistics on the performance of each video, your playlists and the Channel as a whole:
- The number of views,
- Viewing time,
- The number of impressions, i.e. the number of times your thumbnail is visible to users,
- And click-through rate per impression.
These last two pieces of information allow you to understand better how your videos are discovered and how to increase your visibility.
With all this, you know what people like, and you can create your following videos considering it.
Audience engagement is another key aspect of running a YouTube channel. YouTube Studio provides information on the number of likes, comments, shares, and subscribers gained (or lost). You can understand how your audience interacts with your content and find ways to increase this engagement.
With YouTube Studio, you can discover when your viewers are most active, watch duration, and demographic and geographic insights about your audience.
You can even find out what other channels your audience watches and what types of content they consume the most.
With such knowledge of your audience, you can hit the mark.
Your income on YouTube can come from different sources: advertisements displayed on videos, channel memberships, views from Premium members, etc.
Thanks to YouTube Studio, you can track these revenues by knowing the number of transactions, cost per thousand impressions (CPM) and revenue per thousand views (RPM).
With all this information, you can develop more targeted, effective, and profitable content strategies.
And if you still need access to this data, it’s because you’re not monetizable. To be able to access Monetization, you must meet certain conditions. Notably :
- Have at least 1,000 subscribers.
- Have either 4,000 hours of public viewing on long videos in the last 365 days or 10 million public views on shorts in the previous 90 days (Monetization of shorts has been possible since last February).
You must also be over 18 years old or have a legal representative, have a linked AdSense account and live in a country where the YouTube Partner Program is available.
And even with all these conditions met, YouTube reserves the right to refuse Monetization.
So, if you’re new to YouTube, be patient! Continue to analyze your data carefully to become more and more efficient. While waiting to be able to live from it…😉
Interact with your community using YouTube Studio
Not only does YouTube Studio allow you to understand your audience better… Now you know their behaviours. You can adapt your content to their preferences.
In addition, it allows you to manage comments better. You may need to change the way they are displayed. You can choose between disabling them entirely, moderating them before posting, or allowing everyone to comment automatically.
Regarding copyright, which is often a source of problems on YouTube, the channel management tool allows you to see things more clearly. It tells you if you are in violation or not.
And you can report if someone is using your content without permission.
Customize your YouTube channel
The look and layout of your Channel should match your branding. This home page is your showcase. It must serve your branding and make a good impression.
YouTube Studio allows you to add a trailer, display a banner image, choose a watermark at the bottom right of all your videos, feature-specific videos, etc.
Playlists are also very relevant for organizing your Channel. Navigation is more straightforward for your audience. And you can gain visibility.
And do you know another way to be seen on YouTube?
YouTube Shorts: an excellent way to boost your visibility
YouTube Shorts is familiar, and I’m sure you know this format, which is very similar to TikTok videos.
These Shorts of less than 60 seconds can be created and edited directly from your mobile. In the same way as Real or TikTok videos, you can easily add music, change the speed or add text.
You can also take a long video and turn it into a Short. This is a great way to repurpose and introduce your existing content to your new followers. Evergreen content, in a way… And you have a better chance of attracting attention.
Managing shorts from YouTube Studio is only available from the mobile application. But the features are the same as for long videos.
Does all this motivate you to get started on YouTube?
If so, don’t hesitate any longer! YouTube Studio is here to accompany you on the adventure. It gives you complete control over your content and your Channel. You are no longer left to your own devices, and you have all the cards in hand to succeed. Go for it!
